Selection method

Do not select by diagonal size alone

Two modules with the same diagonal can differ in aspect ratio, active area, outline, thickness, FPC exit and mounting geometry. Review the drawing before committing the enclosure.

How TFT LCD size changes the rest of the design

Diagonal size is useful for navigation, but engineering selection starts with the visible area, aspect ratio, pixel workload and enclosure. Use the size group to build a shortlist, then compare the exact drawings and interfaces.

Aspect ratio and enclosure opening

The same diagonal does not guarantee the same visible width and height. Confirm active area, bezel, outline, thickness, mounting and FPC exit from the current drawing.

Resolution and host workload

More pixels affect frame-buffer memory, transfer bandwidth and timing. Review the processor output and the panel's native timing instead of choosing resolution from visual preference alone.

Interface and cable strategy

Panel size does not determine the link by itself. Match the host output, resolution, frame rate, pinout and signal route with the RGB, LVDS, MIPI and MCU interface guide.

Brightness, touch and front stack

The same size can be offered in different luminance and touch configurations. Treat high brightness, PCAP, cover glass and bonding as project requirements, not automatic properties of a size class.

Controller-board requirement

If the host cannot drive the panel natively, a controller or bridge may be needed. Check input, output timing, power and firmware using the controller-board selection guide.

Industrial TFT LCD size FAQ

Are two TFT LCD modules with the same diagonal interchangeable?

No. They can differ in aspect ratio, active area, outline, thickness, mounting, FPC position, connector, pinout, timing, luminance, temperature and touch stack. Compare the current datasheets and mechanical drawings.

Should enclosure size or TFT size be selected first?

They should be developed together. If an enclosure already exists, start from its opening, available depth, mounting and FPC route. For a new design, begin with the user interface and viewing distance, then reserve a realistic mechanical envelope.

Does a larger TFT LCD always require LVDS?

No. Interface selection follows the exact panel, resolution, timing, host capability, connector and signal route. Do not infer an interface from diagonal size.

What should be included in a size-based enquiry?

Provide the target viewing area or enclosure drawing, preferred aspect ratio, UI resolution, host platform and interface, luminance and temperature needs, touch method, cover-lens concept and project stage. Use the requirements checklist to identify open items.
